Dancing Towards Success: Olivia Dixon Returns to Inspire Students
Former A Level Dance student Olivia Dixon recently returned to the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College to deliver a workshop for current Year One and Year Two A Level Dance students. Olivia, who has just completed her first term at the prestigious Performers College, is studying for a BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and Dance.
Performers College, one of the UK’s top Dance Conservatoires, is renowned for producing graduates who excel in the performing arts industry. Its alumni have enjoyed careers spanning the globe, from West End and Broadway shows to international tours, cruise ships, and television. Olivia secured her place at the Conservatoire last year after undergoing an intensive audition process while studying at the Sixth Form College. She is among a select group of students chosen to join the programme.
During the workshop, Olivia shared her technical expertise and expressive skills with the students. She also offered valuable insights into the demanding audition process for Dance Conservatoires, which many of the Year Two students are currently navigating.
Richard O’Brien, Curriculum Manager for Performing Arts, expressed his pride in Olivia’s accomplishments:
I am so proud of Olivia’s achievements in gaining a place at Performers College, which is recognised as one of the UK’s finest performing arts colleges with an international reputation. Olivia delivered a superb workshop for our students, which really enabled them to develop their technical and expressive skills. Many of our A Level Dance Year Two students are currently applying to Dance Conservatoires, and Olivia kindly offered them highly valuable advice and guidance about the audition process. Thank you so much, Olivia, for returning to the Sixth Form to share your knowledge and expertise with our dance students. You are a complete inspiration and an incredibly talented dancer!
Olivia also reflected on her journey and her experience returning to the Sixth Form:
I have really enjoyed my first term at Performers College. It is highly intensive training, but I love every minute, and my teachers are among the best in the industry. It was great to return to the Sixth Form today to lead a workshop and discuss the audition process for Conservatoires with the A Level Dance students. I really enjoyed my time at the Sixth Form, so it was lovely to be back again.
Olivia’s visit left a lasting impression on the students, providing them with inspiration and practical advice as they continued to pursue their own performing arts ambitions. The Sixth Form College extends its gratitude to Olivia for her time and wishes her continued success in her studies and future career.
