Upcoming Clarice Cliff Footbridge Refurbishment – Monday 26 June 2023
As part of Staffordshire University’s ongoing work to make their campuses as accessible as possible to the University Community, from Monday 26 June 2023, work will commence on the Clarice Cliff Footbridge on the Leek Road site in Stoke-on-Trent.
The footbridge, which connects Clarice Cliff Halls of Residence, Woodlands Day Nursery and Forest School and the Nature Reserve to the main Leek Road campus, will be renovated to include a slip-resistant ridge free surface, handrails, re-decoration, and threshold levelling works.
The University Estates and Commercial Services Team has collaborated with students to identify refurbishment works and improve accessibility across campus.
The works are expected to take place over a four-week period. During this period, access between Leek Road campus and Clarice Cliff Halls/Woodlands Day Nursery and Forest School/Nature Reserve via the footbridge will be closed off. Colleagues, students, and guests that require access between locations on this route will need to utilise the walkways on Lordship Lane and Leek Road (A52) past the college and enter campus at the Science Centre. (A video walkthrough of the route to campus is available below as well as an image with the route marked out)
The works have been scheduled for the above date to ensure they take place during an “off-peak” time on campus to minimise disruption to students residing in Clarice Cliff and to ensure they are completed ahead of the 2023/2024 academic year commencing.
Estates and Commercial Services apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience while these important accessibility works take place on campus.
