13 Finance Students from the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College arrived in London to visit the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF) and London’s iconic Financial District.

During a tour of the facilities at LIBF, the students were able to learn about the different undergraduate courses and apprenticeships that LIBF offer, as well as speak to university students who are currently studying there. The insightful visit helped to raise student aspirations and motivation to progress onto further studies within the Finance Sector.

Following their university tour, these aspiring financial tycoons took their first steps into one of the leading Financial Districts in the world as they participated in a City Finance Walking-Tour; discovering the origins of London’s financial centre and how the City of London developed into the global financial centre it is today, taking in key buildings such as: the London Stock Exchange, Guildhall, the Bank of England, Lloyds of London and Rothschild’s.

To round up their trip, the students then enjoyed a spot of sightseeing and visited the famous London Bridge and took a trip up the London Eye. 

Reflecting on their trip, Manzi Mukaragye Financial Education Student at the Sixth Form College commented:

‘This is the first time I have been to London, I was overwhelmed at how big the city was initially, but you settle in very quickly. It was fascinating to learn about the history of the City and how it became the financial giant it is. 

I was also surprised at the different course options available to pursue a career in Finance or Banking. The London Institute of Banking and Finance offers traditional undergraduate courses, but also works in partnership with leading industry experts to deliver an apprenticeship programme. It’s really opened my eyes to what options are available, and I will definitely be considering finance as a future career.’
